Fourtees Enterprises is a community-focused Nigerian business operating across two distinct revenue streams: mobile money financial services and custom fashion design. Growing customer demand exposed a critical operational gap; the business had no reliable way to analyse its own transaction data, detect risks, or generate consistent performance reports. Descasio designed and deployed a fully serverless, AI-powered Business Intelligence and Report Assistant on AWS that now provides the business owner with real-time visibility, natural language querying, automated anomaly detection, and zero-touch report generation; all without requiring any technical expertise.

Fourtees Enterprises is more than a business; it is a community institution. Serving busy professionals and style-conscious customers in its surrounding areas, the company has built a distinctive dual-vertical model that is rare in its market. On one side, its mobile money services arm provides essential financial access and transaction capability to customers who rely on fast, reliable digital financial infrastructure. On the other hand, its fashion design division serves individuals and businesses seeking personalised, quality garment design and production.

This combination creates a business with a unique data challenge: two fundamentally different service lines, each with its own transaction patterns, customer behaviours, seasonal rhythms, and revenue dynamics. As the business scaled, the volume and complexity of daily transactions across both verticals outgrew what could be meaningfully analysed through manual effort. The business owner needed a solution that could make sense of all of this data in real time, without requiring a dedicated data analyst or technical team.

Fourtees Enterprises represents a growing class of modern African SMEs: operationally sophisticated, customer-focused, and ready to leverage technology; but underserved by solutions built for large enterprises with dedicated data infrastructure teams. Descasio recognised this gap and engineered a solution that brought enterprise-grade intelligence within reach.

The Challenge: Flying Blind in a Data-Rich Business

Despite generating hundreds of transactions across its two service lines every week, Fourtees Enterprises had no automated mechanism to transform that data into usable intelligence. The challenges were structural, operational, and strategic:

Data Fragmentation Across Service Lines

Transaction data from the mobile money operation and the fashion design arm existed in separate systems with no unified pipeline connecting them. This meant there was no single source of truth for total business performance, cross-service customer behaviour, or consolidated cash flow analysis. Decisions about resource allocation, staffing, and pricing were being made based on incomplete or delayed information.

No Automated Monitoring or Alerting

Without a centralised monitoring layer, unusual transaction patterns; whether indicative of fraud, system errors, or unexpected demand spikes, would go undetected for days or even weeks. For a business handling financial transactions on behalf of customers, this represented a meaningful risk exposure that the team had no reliable way to mitigate.

Manual, Inconsistent Reporting

Performance reporting was entirely manual, assembled by hand from disparate records and spreadsheets. This process was time-consuming, error-prone, and inconsistent in frequency and format. There was no cadence of daily performance summaries, no standardised weekly cash flow review, and no structured format for identifying whether the business was trending positively or negatively across key indicators.

Absence of Accessible Analytics Capability

Even if the data had been centralised, the business owner had no technical background in data analysis, SQL querying, or dashboard interpretation. A traditional analytics solution would have introduced a steep learning curve or required outsourcing analysis tasks to a third party. The business needed intelligence that was not just available, but genuinely accessible, delivered in plain language, in response to plain-language questions.

The business was generating valuable data every single day. The problem was not a lack of data, it was a lack of any mechanism to turn that data into decisions. That is precisely the gap Descasio was asked to close.

The Solution: AI-Powered Business Intelligence on AWS

Descasio designed and deployed a comprehensive, serverless Business Intelligence and Report Assistant tailored specifically to the operational structure of Fourtees Enterprises. The solution was engineered to be powerful without being complex: the business owner interacts with it through natural language, while a sophisticated AWS-native pipeline handles all data ingestion, transformation, querying, and delivery automatically behind the scenes.

The architecture was built on five foundational principles: real-time data access, natural language accessibility, automated reporting, proactive anomaly detection, and cost-efficient scalability. Every AWS service in the stack was selected to serve one or more of these principles directly.

Architecture Overview

The solution operates as a continuous, event-driven pipeline that begins the moment new transaction data enters the system and ends when the business owner receives either a proactive alert or an on-demand answer to a business question. The key stages are:

Stage 1: Data Ingestion and Centralisation

All transaction records across both the mobile money and fashion service lines are ingested and stored in Amazon S3, which serves as the central data lake for the entire solution. S3 was selected for its durability, scalability, and native integration with the AWS analytics and AI ecosystem. By storing all transaction data in a single, structured location, the solution creates the unified source of truth that was previously absent from the business.

Stage 2: Automated Data Preparation

AWS Glue handles all automated Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) operations. This is a critical stage in the pipeline because raw transaction data from different service lines arrives in different formats, with different schemas and different conventions for fields like timestamps, currency values, and customer identifiers. Glue’s automated crawlers continuously catalogue incoming data, while Glue ETL jobs apply consistent transformation rules to normalise, clean, and structure all records before they enter the analysis layer. This ensures that every query and every report is working from data that is accurate, consistent, and current.

Stage 3: High-Performance Serverless Querying

Amazon Athena provides the query engine for the solution, enabling fast, SQL-based analysis of all transaction data stored in S3 without requiring any database infrastructure to provision or manage. Because Athena is serverless and billed per query, it is perfectly suited to a business of this scale; delivering the analytical performance of an enterprise data warehouse at a fraction of the cost. Athena processes the structured data prepared by Glue, and its results feed directly into both the visualisation layer and the AI interface.

Stage 4: Natural Language Business Interface

Amazon Bedrock powers the conversational AI interface that sits at the centre of the solution’s user experience. Rather than navigating dashboards or writing queries, the business owner can simply ask questions: “What were my top five services by revenue last week?” or “How does this month’s mobile money volume compare to the same period last quarter?” Bedrock’s foundation models interpret these natural language questions, translate them into the appropriate analytical queries, retrieve the relevant data from the pipeline, and return clear, contextual answers in plain language. This capability fundamentally removes the technical barrier between the business owner and their data.

Stage 5: Real-Time Dashboards and Visualisation

Amazon QuickSight delivers the visual intelligence layer of the solution, presenting interactive dashboards that display performance trends, service breakdowns, and cash flow patterns in real time. QuickSight dashboards are designed for non-technical users and can be accessed from any device, enabling the business owner to review their operational picture at a glance; whether at the office, in transit, or at the end of the day. The dashboards are automatically refreshed as new data flows through the pipeline, ensuring that the visual intelligence always reflects the current state of the business.

Stage 6: Anomaly Detection and Automated Reporting

Custom anomaly detection logic is embedded directly into the data pipeline, continuously evaluating incoming transaction patterns against established baselines. When unusual activity is detected, whether a spike in transaction failures, an unexpected volume of high-value transactions, or patterns inconsistent with normal operating behaviour; the system generates an immediate alert for the business owner, enabling investigation before issues escalate. Separately, a scheduled reporting mechanism produces daily performance summaries and weekly cash flow analyses automatically, delivering structured, formatted reports to the business owner without any manual effort required.

Results and Business Impact

The deployment of the AI-powered Business Intelligence and Report Assistant delivered measurable, immediate, and sustained value across every dimension of Fourtees Enterprises’ operations.

Full Business Visibility for the First Time

For the first time since the business launched its dual-vertical model, the business owner has a consolidated, real-time view of performance across both service lines. Cash flow trends, service-level breakdowns, and customer transaction patterns are now visible simultaneously, enabling decisions that account for the full picture of the business rather than individual snapshots from separate systems. The shift from incomplete, manually-assembled data to real-time, comprehensive intelligence has materially changed the quality and speed of decision-making.

Elimination of Manual Reporting Overhead

Before the solution, generating a performance report required manually pulling records from multiple sources, reconciling discrepancies, and formatting results into a readable format — a process that consumed hours of operational time on an irregular basis. With the automated reporting pipeline now in place, daily and weekly reports are generated, formatted, and delivered without any human effort. The time previously spent on manual reporting has been redirected entirely to customer-facing and revenue-generating activities.

Fraud Awareness and Risk Reduction

The anomaly detection layer has introduced a dimension of operational security that simply did not exist before the solution was deployed. The business now has continuous, automated monitoring for irregular transaction behaviour across both service lines, with real-time alerts that give the owner time to investigate and respond before losses escalate. This is particularly significant for the mobile money arm of the business, where transaction irregularities can indicate fraud attempts, system errors, or account compromises.

Scalable Architecture at No Additional Overhead

Because the entire solution is built on serverless AWS infrastructure, it scales automatically with transaction volume. As Fourtees Enterprises grows its customer base and expands its service offerings, the solution will accommodate increasing data volumes without requiring infrastructure upgrades, capacity planning, or additional operational management. The consumption-based pricing model of the core services (Athena, Glue, Bedrock, and QuickSight) ensures that costs remain proportional to usage, making the solution commercially viable at every stage of the business’s growth trajectory.

Democratised Access to Intelligence

Perhaps the most significant outcome is not a metric, it is a capability. The business owner now has direct, conversational access to the intelligence contained in their transaction data, without relying on a data analyst, a technical co-founder, or a third-party reporting service. This democratisation of analytics access levels the playing field between a growing SME and much larger competitors who have dedicated intelligence resources. It also establishes a foundation on which Fourtees Enterprises can build more sophisticated analytical capabilities as the business continues to scale.
